This is a picture of the oldest monument remaining in Old Mount Hermon Cemetery. This picture was made in 1998, when the Cemetery was more or less neglected and receiving minimum or no care. In the past many of the monuments were removed or damaged or placed in out-of-the-way places to make cleanup more convenient for well meaning volunteers. Since so many of the earliest gravesites were only marked by simple stones or wooden markers, which were removed, the location of those graves is not certain. The Foundation is endeavoring to locate those graves.
In 2001 this stone was cleaned and also set in a concrete base to hold it upright and prevent movement due to loose soil around the stone.
